Plot Summary
Episode 1: Pilot
The episode begins with a flashback to the day of the nuclear apocalypse, when a young girl named Clarke Griffin witnesses her father being arrested for trying to warn the people on the Ark about the failing life support systems. In the present day, Clarke is one of the hundred juvenile prisoners who are chosen to be sent to Earth as an experiment to see if it is habitable again. She is joined by Wells Jaha, the son of the Ark's Chancellor; Finn Collins, a rebellious spacewalker; Octavia Blake, an illegal second child; Bellamy Blake, Octavia's protective brother who sneaks on board; Jasper Jordan and Monty Green, two best friends; John Murphy, a violent bully; and Raven Reyes, a brilliant mechanic who stays behind.
The dropship lands in a forested area, where the teens are amazed by the beauty of nature. Clarke tries to take charge and find Mount Weather, a former military base where they can find supplies and shelter. However, Bellamy convinces most of them to take off their wristbands, which are used to monitor their vital signs by the Ark. He does this because he wants to avoid being arrested for shooting Chancellor Jaha before leaving. He also gives Jasper a spear as a gift.The group splits up, with Clarke, Wells, Finn, Octavia, Jasper, and Monty heading to Mount Weather, while Bellamy, Murphy, and the others stay at the camp. Along the way, they encounter a two-headed deer, a sign of radiation. Jasper also finds a sign that says "Earth Monitoring Station", which leads them to a river. There, Octavia is attacked by a giant water snake, but she is saved by a mysterious stranger. Jasper develops a crush on her and decides to impress her by crossing the river using a vine. He succeeds, but he is suddenly hit by a spear thrown by an unknown assailant. The episode ends with Jasper's body being dragged away by someone.
Episode 2: Earth Skills
The episode starts with another flashback, this time to when Finn was arrested for spacewalking and using up oxygen. In the present, Clarke and the others are shocked by Jasper's apparent death and decide to go back to the camp. However, they are ambushed by a group of Grounders, the native inhabitants of Earth who survived the apocalypse. They manage to escape with the help of the stranger who saved Octavia, who reveals his name is Lincoln. He tells them that they are not welcome on his land and warns them to leave.
Meanwhile, at the camp, Bellamy tries to establish his authority by making rules and punishing those who disobey him. He also forms an alliance with Murphy, who becomes his second-in-command. He also tries to convince Raven to help him disable the remaining wristbands, but she refuses. She secretly contacts Abby Griffin, Clarke's mother and the chief medical officer on the Ark, and tells her that she can fix a dropship pod and go to Earth.
On the Ark, Chancellor Jaha recovers from his gunshot wound and learns that his son Wells is alive on Earth. He also faces a crisis of leadership, as some of his council members want to reduce the population by executing 300 people. He is opposed by Abby and Marcus Kane, his deputy and rival. They try to find a way to contact the 100 and see if they are still alive.
Episode 3: Earth Kills
The episode begins with another flashback, this time to when Abby was arrested for treason for trying to save her husband's life. In the present, Clarke, Wells, Finn, Octavia, and Lincoln return to the camp with Jasper, who is still alive but critically wounded. They try to treat his infection with seaweed, but they realize that he needs antibiotics from Mount Weather. Clarke and Finn volunteer to go there, while Wells stays behind to protect Jasper.

On their way, Clarke and Finn encounter a group of survivors from another dropship that landed in a different location. They are led by Charlotte, a 13-year-old girl who killed her abusive parents on the Ark. They also meet Atom, one of Bellamy's followers who was sent to spy on them. They find Mount Weather, but it is surrounded by a minefield. Atom triggers one of the mines and gets caught in barbed wire. Clarke tries to free him, but she sees that he has been exposed to acid fog, a deadly weapon used by the Grounders. She mercy-kills him with Finn's help.
Back at the camp, Bellamy continues to assert his dominance by organizing a hunting party. He also tries to bond with Charlotte, who admires him. However, he is challenged by Murphy, who accuses him of being weak for letting Wells live. He also blames Wells for Jasper's condition, since he was the one who threw the spear that hit him. He rallies some of his followers to attack Wells at night.
On the Ark, Abby manages to fix the dropship pod with Raven's help. She decides to go to Earth herself, despite Kane's objections. She also gives Raven a radio so that she can contact Finn, her boyfriend. Episode 6: His Sister's Keeper
The episode starts with another flashback, this time to when Bellamy and Octavia were teenagers on the Ark. They attended a masquerade party, where Octavia met a boy named Atom. However, they were discovered by the guards and Octavia was arrested. Bellamy blamed himself for not protecting her. In the present, Bellamy leads a rescue mission to find Octavia, who was kidnapped by Lincoln in the previous episode. He is joined by Finn, Jasper, Monty, and some others.
They track Lincoln's trail to a bridge, where they encounter a group of Grounders. They engage in a fight, but they are outnumbered and outmatched. Finn is wounded by an arrow, while Jasper is captured by the Grounders. Bellamy manages to save him by shooting the Grounder leader, but he also attracts the attention of a sniper.
Meanwhile, Octavia wakes up in Lincoln's cave, where he treats her wound and gives her food. She tries to escape, but she is stopped by Lincoln. He tells her that he is not her enemy and that he wants to help her. He also shows her his drawings and his collection of books and artifacts from the old world. He explains that he is a scout for his clan and that he has been observing the 100 since they landed. He also reveals that there is a war coming between the Grounders and the Mountain Men, the inhabitants of Mount Weather who have been capturing and killing his people.
